weekend getaway

Last Friday, we decided to go to La Union. It was an unplanned trip. I had my overnight bag with me 'coz I was planning to have a long weekend in Batangas, at my lola's house specifically. Then suddenly an idea popped up from my mind--why don't we [angels] have a long weekend together in La Union since we planned to go there before I'll leave Manila this April 11. Plus, it will be a three-day weekend which rarely happens to us since we work in different Korean companies that follows Korean holidays.I got my overnight bag already so I was ready to go anywhere. I texted the angels if they liked to have a weekend in La Union and we would be staying at Ayka's house. I waited for their confirmation and they all said YES except for Grace since she got her weekend all planned out already. It was fine but it would have been better if she went with us *wink*. Ayka, Nancy and I went to La Union at Saturday dawn and Weng followed us on the afternoon of that same day. We planned to have a maximum of P1500 trip and I think we only spent less than 1500 except for Weng 'coz she had dinner in one of the small hotels in La union--hahaha!.

AT LA UNION--February 29--March 1, 2010

Saturday

The three of us arrived at La Union at around 9am. We directly went to Ayka's place, had breakfast and slept until early that afternoon . As usual, we always wanted to take a rest before hitting the spots in San Fernando, La Union.

Around 3 pm

We went to Ayka's favorite Chinese restaurant and elementary school, the city's cathedral, Pagoda and the city's capitol. We couldn't decide where to go since we were still waiting for Weng to arrive. We didn't really want to explore the place without her. When we went to the Pagoda. It seemed like we were somewhere in China. The view from the Pagoda was breath taking. We could see the whole city and the blue sea. It was a little bit sad though that there were a lot of vandals on it and it was not well taken care of. We also went to the city's capitol since someone invited us to go there when we were about to go home. We saw the different governors of the city and we we went to the capitol's ground and watched the sunset.

Saturday night

Weng would arrive at around 10pm so we went to the city's plaza where she should get off. We waited for her and when she arrived we went to one of the hotels in the city for her to have a late dinner. I had coffee as usual and cookies. When we went back to Ayka's place, we watched American Idol 'coz Ayka wanted to show us Casey James, one of the contestants of American Idol and her crush. Before the program ended, all of us had a crush on him to. WAY TO GO Casey James!

Sunday morning

We planned to go to Ma-cho temple and to the different beaches in La Union.  We started our day a little bit late already as usual. We were a little bit slow in getting ready for the day. First, we went to two different beach resorts somewhere on the northern part of La Union. Since nobody wanted to swim, so we didn't bring clothes for swimming. The beaches were beautiful but then it was so hot to swim. Then we went to Ma-cho temple. Again, it was like we were somewhere in China and when we went there, there were a lot of Chinese who were offering so we weren't able to burn incense and other chinese stuff to do in a Chinese temple--hahaha!

early afternoon
We went to the beach resorts somewhere down south. It was like we were beach hopping. We hanged out in one of the resorts there and had fruit shakes. It was so refreshing to have a shake in a very hot day. I could feel that summer was already starting here in the Philipines.

late afternoon

We went to Ayka's brother's house to see his nephews and niece. Her sister-in-law asked us if we went to Greece. We were like dumbfounded since we didn't know what she was asking us. Until Nancy told us, " there is a resort featured on TV with a Greek theme".Late that afternoon, we went to this "Greece" resort. We found out that the name of this resort was "Thunderbird" and we were like, "what the heck? An awesome resort with a name THUNDERBIRD?". The place made us feel that we were in Greece, maybe somewhere in Santorini but we could not get over with its name. They could have given it a name that makes you think of Greece or paradise and not make you think of a rooster for cockfighting. It was really funny. Until now, I'm still thinking about what made the owner of that hotel or the company think of that name. Everything would have been perfect for that resort except for its name.

at night
We went to the city's night market to buy the famous "Ilocos empanada". We bought different kinds of food and we went back at Ayka's place to have dinner instead of going to the beach due to some reasons..thinking about it..I don't know why? hahaha!

Monday--
going back to Manila
back to reality

Hope we will have another weekend escape despite the problems that each of us have. It might just be temporary but it helps us to keep sane. Sometimes we just need to get away from all the dramas in life.

ranting about my friends rants..

"Being an adult: TOTALLY overrated. I mean seriously, don't be fooled by the hot shoes and great sex and no parents anywhere telling you what to do. Being an adult is responsibility. Responsibility really does suck. Really, REALLY sucks. Adults have to be places and do things and earn a living and pay the rent. And if you're training to be a surgeon, holding a human heart in your hands... Hello! Talk about responsibility! Kinda makes bikes and cookies look really really good, doesn't it? The scariest part about responsibility... When you skrew up and let it slip right through your fingers. Responsibility. It really does suck. Unfortunately once you get past the age of braces and training bras, responsibility doesn't go away. It can't be avoided. Either someone makes us face it or we suffer the consequences. " --- meredith grey

I read my friend's blog [Grace] few minutes ago and I stumbled on this quote from Grey's anatomy--one of our favorite tv series. My friend is ranting about stuffs and so am I. Well, responsibility really sucks! I think, Grace and I feel the same way about things though she really has a lot of responsibilities compare to me but still they are responsibilities and sometimes I feel like they are choking me alive.

To Grace:

Beh, we really need a break. Good thing that we will have no work this Friday and Tuesday. Ayka invited me to go with them this coming Monday. They are going to have night swimming in Antipolo but I don't know if I'm going. I'm still thinking about it. Ayka told me to go out and have some good times but then I'm too lazy to do it. I think this is where some of my problems lie, laziness and so in love in hanging out in my apartment. So, what are you going to do this weekend? I just realized that I didn't really have plans for the next few days because I am so hook in watching BOYS BEFORE FLOWERS...waaahhh! Any plans for angels?

at last..weekend with friends

After all the things I've been through these past few weeks, now I have time to spend with my friends...

Saturday, 8:00PM or so

Weng's crib

  • We [angels] are all excited that Weng is now having a baby. Wow! I can't believe it. It's really a miracle to have a baby.
  • My friends and I played Wii. It was so exciting. It lingered in my mind for hours. I really love it. I hope I have one so that I wil just play everytime I have a free time but I think it's impossible to happen and I don't think it's a good idea 'coz I will just keep on hanging out in my apartment. I think that's one of the problems why my social life is going down, I love my place so much that it becomes my favorite hang out place. hahaha! So lazy to go out.

Sunday (Lunch at Cravings, Shang-rila)

Yes, we are supposedly have to have lunch in Craving but then we (Angels) arrived around 3p.m. hahaha! It's snack time already. Well, blame it to Wii. We didn't want to leave Weng's place because we wanted to finish the game.

It was great that we were able to meet our former officemates. It was like a reunion. Many things had happened on each and every one of us. There are some of us who got married, got pregnant, got better carreer and some of us, still remains single. It was a great thing to know that everybody is doing well (that's what I think...).

After meeting our former officemates, we went to Starbucks (forever...walang kamatayan na starbucks) to hang out for couple of minutes before saying goodbye. We talked about "US" since it will be weeks again before we're going to see each other.

To wrap it up, my weekend was awesome! I'm glad that I went out and I spent time with my friends. Sometimes, we take our friends for granted and sometimes we are not sensitive enough to know their feelings. For my friends, though we have differences and we have shortcomings but then I'm happy that we still remain friends.

Long awaited weekend of the Angels

It's been months since we last saw each other. The last time was in Grace's birthday and it was ages ago. Anyway, the ultimate reason why it took us months to hang out together was our SCHEDULE especially Grace, Weng and I...So guilty that we some kinda stood up Nancy and Ayka. They were the ones who kept on bugging us about our meeting. Grace and I were too busy last term because of our papers and Weng had busy sched. Busy, busy...blame it to our sched..hahaha!

The long awaited weekend...

Finally, we decided to meet last SUNDAY. Since it was the only time that we were all vacant. hahaha! The time was settled but there were last minute a night before. Instead of going to Tagaytay, we ended up hanging out in Alabang...Well, it was not bad since it seemed like we were in Tagaytay because of the weather. It was so chilly.

PLAN:

Meeting place: ATC at 11:00AM
Lunch: West gate
After Lunch: Bowling
Late afternoon: Have coffee

Well, as usual we did not all arrive at 11:00AM..hahaha! Congratulations to Ayka and Nancy. They arrived exactly 11:00 or before 11:00. Followed by yours and truly..I arrived 15 minutes late. I was so engrossed in revising my paper that I forgot the time. Then followed by Shey and Grace. They were an hour and half late...Oh! We were so hungry. Then finally, Weng arrived and the time was 2:00PM...wooh..[It's better to be late than not to show up at all]. We could eat anything and anywhere but then we decided to have late or shall I say very late lunch in Westgate.

Each of us got a gift from Nancy...The cutest picture frame..hahaha!

Last Saturday was my first time to eat Paella because it looked yucky but then when I tasted it..Oh! it was so delicious. I think this will be one of my favorite dishes now.

AFTER LUNCH

We went to Paeng's bowling center in ATC. It was Ayka's first time to play bowling but then she was one of our highest scorers. hahaha!

AFTER BOWLING

Last stop...back to Westgate to have coffee in UCC. It was my first time to have coffee there since we decided not to have Starbucks because it's been our hang out place ever since. In short, we wanted to try another coffee. BTW, it was Weng's treat for us..for being late..hahaha! So, I really want to thank her for treating us. Also, for giving me the shawl (the pink one that I'm wearing).
The coffee in UCC is one of the best. It's heavenly but it's very expensive so I don't think I will always hang out there. hahaha!

Angels@Weng's wedding

June 28, 2008--Saturday...

I started to despise Saturdays because I have classes to attend and it start early in the morning but last Saturday, the feeling was different because it was my friend's (Rowena) wedding. I' was so excited to wake up and start my day. I went to school without bringing any books. I only brought the clothes that I have to wear for the wedding which I only grabbed from my closet. Then it hit me that I'm going to attend a wedding wearing my old clothes...grrr... anyway, I planned to buy a blouse after school...

At school...

Weng's wedding---it was her day. So, I didn't want to think about school stuffs. My mind was elsewhere. The worst about me being a student was I didn't attend the orrientation that was compulsory. I didn't know what it was but I think I have to attend two orrientations..whatever it was...I was just too excited to think about it. Not a time for me to be geeky, it was time to party.

After school

I met one of the Angels, Grace, at school and we had lunch together. After lunch, she went to Richmond Hotel in Ortigas, where the bride and her entourage should be. I, on the other hand, went to Shangri-la mall and bought clothes for the wedding then went to Ayka's place to dress up and to have my hair and make-up done...

An hour before the wedding

Ready for the big event...We, Ayka, Nancy and I, left 45 minutes before the time of the wedding. When we were on our way, we then realized that the place that we were going to was so far. We almost got lost though we had a map, then when we almost reached our destination, Grace txted me that they were lost. We tried to help them out and we waited for them outside the venue but they were already very late when they arrived. Anyway, it was Grace's story to tell...in short, the angels were not able to perform their duties in Weng's wedding. Very funny indeed...

Here are the photos while waiting for Grace to arrive....

At the wedding....we are in the reception area. By the way, the food was great and Ayka and I loved the chocolate fountain...hehehe!

...then the BRIDE, Mrs. Rowena Bautista-Juan and the GROOM,Mr. Herbert Juan

After the wedding, we were some of the guests who stayed behind. We waited for the bride and groom...and we were eating again...hahaha! Angels, pasimple effect...hahaha!

Time to go home...

We decided to go home since our eyes were already drooping. Everybody was tired and was seeking the comfort of their bed. We left the place together with the bride and groom. They were in the other car and we just followed them...scared to get lost again...then suddenly, out of the blue, everyone decided to have coffee in Starbuck and the nearest coffee house will be in the Fort so we decided to go there but there was one big problem, we were not familiar with the place. We went round and round and got lost again....then we found Starbucks..we had coffee and we talked and then concluded--at the end of the day...we usually end up in Starbucks...are we stockholders of Starbucks or something? wahahaha!

Then we go on our separate ways....We live far from each other like from east to west and north to south. To continue...Ayka lives in Katipunan--Atenista ang dating so she took a cab since Fort is not so far from Katipunan, Nancy lives in Munoz, somewhere in the north so she took a bus, Grace, together with Shey, lives in Cavite and since they have a car they didn't have any problem going home except for the gasoline..(The price is getting higher and higher) hahaha! Then, I live in Alabang so I took a bus...the series of unlucky events did not end when we got lost...it continued...I got off in a wrong place and then when I took a "dyip" going to my place, it broke down...what a tiring day! I arrived home at around 3'o clock in the morning. (sigh!)

Hanging out with the Angels...

Friday night....At weng's crib

It was Friday night. I had to meet the angels (Weng, Ayka and Nancy) at 11:00 PM in Globe Tower, my previous job's building. We decided to hang out together since we hadn't seen each other for a while and it would be Weng's last week as a single. Next week,Saturday, she will get married and I know that some things will change. Even though, I would have an exam the next day but for me that night...the get together was too precious. I didn't want to miss it. Anyway, Weng and I had dinner together while waiting for our friends, Ayka and Nancy, in one of our hang out places in Globe tower. After their arrival, we decided to go to Weng's condo since I have to study. KJ (Kill joy)...Friday night and I would have to study...grrrr....

the ANGELS..

The name ANGELS started when all of us worked in the same company years ago...It is vague for me why we became ANGELS. I think it was because of Chocok's our 'kuya' or elder brother in our office and we were called Chocok's Angels since we were always with him and he some kinda took care of us. Anyway, the angels are Ayka, Weng, Nancy, Grace and I...but last Friday night, unfortunately Grace was not with us since she was busy.

I present to you the angels who were with me last Friday. Even though Grace was not with us, still we had a wonderful time but it would have been better if she were with us...

This is AYKA...

A
yka is the eldest..hehehe! Well, she's the eldest but sometimes she seems to be the youngest. She's young at heart. She likes to watch cartoons and she likes to play computer games.

Friday night..She was dead tired because she has a part time job and she is a Team Leader--so much work for her..Her eyes were drooping when she talked to us..(giggle)

This is NANCY...
If Ayka is the eldest, this is our baby...She is the youngest in Angels and she has the most beautiful smile. We usually joke around that 'she is now a lady'. She improved a lot. She wears make up now and she dresses up like a young lady...(hahaha!)

Friday night...as usual, we teased her about being a 'lady' and we asked her if she has a love life already...I think she's the persona in NEVER BEEN KISSED!

Lastly, this is WENG...

Weng is going to tie the knot this Saturday with Akong, who just came back from the states for the ceremony. I'm so excited for her. She and I have almost the same personality. We are perfectionist, cranky at times (hahaha), opinionated and so on...well, we are virgos..

Friday night...We hanged out in her place. She rented a condo unit for the mean time since her condo is not yet ready. We talked about the things that she planned to do the next day since she was going to give a surprise lunch for her future hubby....She is so in love...and blooming..like a flower in spring.

***************************************

The night with the angels...

Now that you know the angels... I'm going to tell you what happened...this is it...I was a little bit nervous, I would have an exam next day and I hadn't studied yet. The worst things was, I was tired and I wanted to sleep. I took down notes but later on, my mind was nowhere to be found...So, I asked Nancy to study for me..Well, to take down notes for me so that I could read them on my way to my school. Well, she did it and I found the notes on the table when I woke up the next day. Isn't she so nice?
Let's go back to our night...we talked about our angst..as usual..We talked about the people around us, our job and again our angst...hatred...then we ended up praising and complimenting ourselves (nagbuhat ba ng bangko...) hahaha!

Weng, Ayka and Nancy...I took the picture using my phone..Thank God..The photo is good. It doesn't show their flaws..I mean eyebags....hahaha! They look well rested..

Weng, Ayka and I...I like our colors...Spring colors..pink, green and yellow..We joked around that we should wear these kind of colors since it would give us good photo.

Nancy and I...our get-together would not be complete without her...I would feel sad if she were not attend any of our gatherings...I like to piss her off and tease her...(hahaha!). She's like a younger sister to me.

**************************
To the angels,
I know that I've been so busy these past few months maybe a year now and I'm sorry that sometimes I don't have much time to spend with you. You are one of my treasures. ANGELS--coming into my life is one most precious things that happened into me..Though we don't spend much time together, I know that you will always be here for me. If there were things that I've done that upset you, then thank you for understanding...You know that I'll always be here for you.

Angels forever....even though time will come that we will have our own lives...
LOVE yah!

P.S.
sounds so cheesy. It gives me goosebumps...

Angel's Best Weekend by Nancy
The best weekend of Angels...

464 days ago, the angels went to Tagaytay and Nasugbu.

Saturday morning and afternoon

We were like backpackers. We rode a bus to Tagaytay and had lunch in Dencios. After that, we went to a park and then we went to CalleRuega, the most beautiful place to get married. This was one of the highlights of our trip. It seemed like we were not in Tagaytay/Nasugbu and that we were in a picture. The place was enchanting and it made me speechless. It was one of the best places I've ever been to. Then afterward, we went to one of Nasugbu's beaches. We brough Tequila with us and some food. We were just too scared to be hungry. We were budget travelers so we tried to get a cheapest beach house. We went from one beach resort to another. Then we found a cheap and a good beach house.

Saturday evening

We dined to the nearest restaurant and then went back to the beach resort. We planned to have a bonfire so we made one. Then we grilled hotdogs and opened a bottle of Tequila. Stories and angsts about the people around us, life and career were shared that night.

Sunday afternoon

We woke up late. We went to Jollibee to have our lunch and we went back to the resort. Nancy, Grace and Weng swam in the pool, Ayka grabbed the mic and sang (videoke) and I sat watching all of them. I didn't like to swim and I didn't want to sing. What I wanted was to sit and sit.

We left the beach resort late in the afternoon already. We decided to stop by in Starbucks Tagaytay. When we were in Tagaytay, it was so cold. Having coffee in a cool place sounds terrific. We ordered our favorite coffee blend then we hanged out for a little while since we could not stand the coldness of the place.

Time to go home...

We rode a bus again. We were dead tired and the next day would be Monday, time to work again.

464 days ago...was the best weekend...464 days ago...we promised that each year ANGELS would travel to another place and spend time together...464 days had passed and now we are planning to have another great weekend together
